Remembering other victims at a rally for Yong Xin Huang outside the Brooklyn DA

Title

Remembering other victims at a rally for Yong Xin Huang outside the Brooklyn DA

Description

Photo taken at the Brooklyn DA office during a demonstration organized by CAAAV after the DA failed to bring an indictment against Steven Mizrahi, the NYPD officer who murdered Yong Xin Huang on March 24, 1995.

Photo shows several signs in the background bearing the names of other victims of racist violence. Visible names include Heng Lim (who was 37 when he was beaten to death in Philadelphia in 1990), Thong Hy Huynh (17 year old high school student murdered in Sacramento in 1983), and Hung Truong (who was 15 when he was murdered in Houston in 1990). CAAAV noted a trend of judicial misconduct and neglect in the handling of these cases as well as in Yong Xin Huang's.

Also visible in the background of the image, taped onto a column, is a poster with images of Yong Xin and the words "REMEMBERING YONG XIN HUANG" at center.
