WWP members at Domestic Workers United press conference at City Hall
Title
WWP members at Domestic Workers United press conference at City Hall
Description
Three Women Workers Project members pose with a poster that reads, "KALAYAAN AT PAGKAKAISA / FREEDOM AND UNITY, FOR ALL DOMESTIC WORKERS / FILIPINA DOMESTICS UNITE." The Women Workers Project (WWP) at CAAAV was also known as Kalayaan at Pagkakaisa ng mga Manggagawang Pilipina. At bottom left of the image, another woman holds a sign that reads, "DOMESTIC WORKERS UNITED WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED!" The women are standing on the steps of City Hall for a press conference on domestic workers issues.
WWP was part of a city-wide and multi-racial alliance of domestic workers, Domestic Workers United (DWU), alongside organizations Andolan Organizing South Asian Workers, Haitian Women for Haitian Refugees, and Damayan Migrant Workers. DWU organized the press conference pictured above to advocate for the passage of Intro. No. 96 and Resolution No. 135, or the "domestic workers bill and resolution."
