Domestic Workers United Press Conference at City Hall
Title
Description
Six people stand on the steps of City Hall in New York City. On the left, four of them, smiling, pose for a picture while holding a handwritten sign that reads “Kalayaan at Pagkakaisa / Freedom and unity for all domestic workers / Filipina domestics unite.” On the right side of the image, a person looking on a different direction holds a sign that reads “Domestic workers united will never be defeated!”. The image is slightly blurred on the left side, possibly a result of water damage.
The press conference was organized by the Women Workers Project (WWP) of CAAAV at Domestic Workers United (DWU) to advocate for the passage of Intro. 96 and Resolution 135, two pieces of legislation that sought to protect the rights of domestic workers and household employees. The legislations were passed in 2003.
