Title
Yong Xin Huang’s family and supporters protest outside the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office
Description
Protesters gather outside of the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office to demand justice for Yong Xin Huang, a Chinese American 16-year-old who was shot and killed by police officer Steven Mizrahi on March 24, 1995, while Huang was playing in a friend’s backyard in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. Huang’s family demanded the suspension and indictment of officer Mizrahi, but the measure was denied on May 16, 1995. The family led the protest outside of the District Attorney’s Office in response to this decision.
In the image, a person is speaking through a megaphone that is being held by another person. Other people in the image, including one of Huang’s sisters, are holding partially visible signs with images of Yong Xing Huang that read “My brother did not deserve to die” and “Remember.”
