Campaigns and Advocacy

YLP members and mentors gathered in front of Edgar Allan Poe School in the Bronx, circa 1997. 

The YLP soon expanded from a summer program into a full organizing program that steadily grew in membership and won several victories for the Southeast Asian community in Fordham. Over the next decade, the YLP led extensive campaigns for housing, welfare, health care, and education justice while also continuing the annual Summer Institute, which educated dozens of Southeast Asian youth in community organizing.
