Title

Individual Shouts at "Speakout Against Racist Violence" Poster During Kum Nam Kim Demonstration

Description

In the foreground of this black and white photo, an individual shouts at a poster that reads "Speak out Against Racist Violence." A series of other posters written in various languages are featured in-frame, one of which reads "Stop Anti-Asian Violence," in English. This image was captured at a CAAAV demonstration organized to demand justice for Kum Nam Kim, a Korean street vendor on the Upper West Side who was brutalized and arrested by police on August 3, 1993 after protesting an unfair parking ticket.[1]
