Press conference and protest in front of Manhattan DA’s office before Saleem Osman's hearing #4
Title
Press conference and protest in front of Manhattan DA’s office before Saleem Osman's hearing #4
Description
Saleem Osman, CAAAV organizer for the Lease Drivers Coalition, was violently assaulted and arrested in May 1994 for his activism. Cab drivers and protesters started a demonstration outside Manhattan DA’s office right away to denounce his unjust arrest and police brutality. Later in July 1994, protestors gathered once again in front of Manhattan DA’s office to demonstrate during the press conference of Saleem Osman’s hearing. They have the same goal to voice their discontent regarding discrimination against people of color and taxi drivers.
This photo features two protestors in the demonstration. Vicente Alba (Natl Congress for Puerto Rican Rights) holding sign that says "People of Color Unified for Justice" and Tony Nguyen on the side.
