In October 1997, a non-English speaking Korean woman who is known publicly as "Mrs. O," survived rape by her employer and immigration sponsor. The Queens District Attorney's office denied Mrs. O a translator and the presence of a woman, then closed her case without another interview. CAAAV members formed the Justice for Mrs. O Coalition to support Mrs. O, pressure the D.A. to fully prosecute her rapist, and work with Korean organizations to break the silence around sexual assault in the community.</text>
