Title A name given to the resource Guo Quing Zhong shows his injuries to the press Description An account of the resource Guo Quing Zhong sits beside his family while showing the injuries he received from police officers to the press. On January 31, 1990, Guo Quing (Peter) Zhong was stopped by police officers from the 90th Precinct after allegedly driving through a red light while heading home with his wife, child, and mother-in-law. After exiting his vehicle, the police slammed Zhong's head against the car window, choked him with a nightstick, and jumped up and down on his chest, causing him to lose consciousness. He was then arrested, advised by the police not to request medical assistance or an attorney to facilitate a speedier release, and charged with misdemeanor assault. Zhong's injuries were extensive and included severe hemorrhaging in both eyes and persistent chest pain that lasted several weeks. All criminal charges against Zhong were dropped by the Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes on October 1, 1990 after significant community outrage and organizing efforts facilitated by CAAAV [1].
